TRIP PLANNING TIPS

With only 7 -10 days to travel,
what’s the best route to see as much of Sri Lanka as possible?

2 Basic Ideas:

  • Clock-wise route: Basically, from Adventure to more Relaxing & Chill

  • To simplify, Sri Lanka can be divided into 4 sections: Culture Triangle – Hill & Tea Planation – Adventure Safari – Ocean & Beach

Central Province – Cultural Triangle & “The Gathering”

If you want to pack it in and see as much as possible (as I would want to!), the best place to head first is the Cultural Triangle (the central province of Sri Lanka) – Where the UNESCO World Heritage Sites are located – Annuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya Lion Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple & The Royal City of Kandy, in this area -  you can  see some stunning sights, from ancient Buddhist temples to giant rock fortresses and so on.

There’s also some stunning wildlife in the area, and a chance to see one of the largest elephant migrations on the planet, nicknamed suitably ‘The Gathering’.

*Generally, Our clients will spend around 2-3 nights in Cultural Triangle

(including the inter-places transfer time).

Hill & Tea Plantation

From here head south to the beautiful rolling hills of Sri Lanka’s famous tea country, taking the chugging toy train en route to admire the area in all its glory. Here you will be able to do some tea plantation / mountain trekking or even kayaking on the beautiful reservoirs in the area, followed by visiting the historical tea factory & sipping the famous Ceylon tea.

*Here you probably would like to spend around 1-2 nights

Adventure Safari

Apart from “The Gathering” you may probably want to make some adventure inside the thick jungles - A morning spent in search of leopards in Yala National Park or Udawalawe National Park will definitely your options.

*Here you will spend around 1 nights

Ocean & Beach

Make your way to Sri Lanka’s stunning southern coastline and the beautiful colonial fort of Galle. Enjoy your last days shopping in Galle, sipping cocktails and surfing on the famous breaks near Weligama, not a bad way to polish off a week’s exploring.

*Here you probably would love to spend around 2 nights
